DPT Magazine - Going Pro: How To Make Money From Your Photography
June 29, 2011
Hi

Dareen Rowse explains how this new eBook, Going Pro, from Digital Photography School came about. Read what he says below:

Over the last few years I’ve noticed a significant shift in the questions that end up in my inbox.

While in the early days of the site queries often centred around photographic techniques (composition, exposure, etc.), lately more and more seem to be from readers who want to turn their passion for photography into an income stream.

How and where do I sell my images? Where can I find work as a photographer? How much should I charge for my work? What qualifications do I need and how should I invest in my business?

In a recent poll on Digital Photography School over 80% of respondents indicated that they dream of making money from their photography.

Interestingly, a further 10% of our readers indicated that they were already making at least a part-time income from their passion. With the advent of digital photography and opportunities opening up online, more and more people are making this leap!

This eBook was created with the primary objective of helping those dreaming of ‘going pro’ achieve their goals as well as resource those already on the journey to set up a business model that is sustainable.

Kelly Kingman has drawn on her own years of experience as a photo editor and has spent months researching different business models with a variety of pro photographers to create ‘Going Pro’. I trust you find the book both inspiring and informative and I look forward to seeing our dPS community continue to explore new ways of converting their love of photography into a lucrative income venture.
