Panasonic DMC-FZ35: Comes With HD Video

by Bob Brownlow
(County Cavan, Ireland)

I purchased the Panasonic DMC-FZ35 in December 2009 and have not looked back. This camera is technically a point-and-shoot as it does not have interchangeable lenses, however it does have a lot of manual controls as well.

It's like the best of both worlds! Along with the manual controls, it does have an AutoIntelligence mode that takes wonderful photos, but it's great to be able to play with the settings yourself and learn how to take manual photos.

Now, the Panasonic DMC-FZ35 is not a camera that you can just stick in your pocket and be on your way with. It does require a dedicated camera bag, but not a huge backpack that you'd need with a DSLR and all the equipment that comes with that. A small square over-the-shoulder bag will do.

The photos are incredibly sharp and the color is amazing, even with the Auto setting. I've used it for mostly daytime outdoor shots, but it's got a great Macro mode for close up shots, and I've gotten some great action shots with it as well. Indoor shots are easy to get with it as well. I have not used the Panasonic DMC-FZ35 for night shooting much, so I cannot comment on that. It also takes HD video, and that is a great feature on a digital camera!
