I took this photo when I was on holiday in India. I was walking around the Red Fort when I saw the two women. They were taking a break from supplying morter to builders.
Mark, just to answer your questions. The shot was taken on an old Sony Cybershot. A robust camera ideal for travel but only 3.5mp.
This picture was taken at mid day and just after a cloud burst. 15 mins. earlier the sun was directly over head and casting very dark shadows. It would have been a completely different shot, their faces would have been blacked out in shadow.
You can see from the picture that there are no shadows, the clouds have dispersed the light evenly over the court yard and the subject.
The women were waiting to start back to work after the down pour. Just a lucky shot!! They carry the mortar in basins on their head to the guys doing the repair work on the fort. The basins are hammered out of old oil drums.

Great Shot! by: Mark McKnight
I agree with with previous comment. The colours and focus in this picture are really good and sharp.
Also the picture is well composed. Sometimes the buildings in the background of these type of pictures can be a bit slanted. You can see in this picture that the building in the background is perfectly level and straight.
You didn't mention what camera you used to take the picture. I'd be interested to know whether it was a Compact or DSLR.

Beautiful Colours by: Anonymous
I think the colours in this photo are fantastic. They are obviously not aware they are being photographed which adds to the charm.
