Green Bee Eater - Thol Lake, Mehsana, Guajarat

Three hours of hard work and eventually I was rewarded with this shot. Three days I was after this. Somehow the idea struck my mind that I needed to create my own perch??

After collecting some twigs and arranging them in a natural way, I lay on the floor for three hours waiting for this short moment. I was very close to the subject...it is not an easy task to do without a hide or some concealment. It is not always possible to get this close to small birds. But somehow I was lucky to have this shot.

I bought a Sigma 170-500mm dg. It doesn't have an Image Stabilizer, which is the sad part. I didn't use a lens converter and deliberately arranged the twigs..so that I could get a nice depth of field..:)

You captured this shot very well. I like the way you blurred out the background to prevent any distraction from the subject.

Perfect timing! What focal length and aperture did you shoot at? What lens are you using? Are you using an extender on your lens?
